    Our Year in Review

    2017 was a year of fun and growth for us all. We’ve enjoyed getting to know our new community since we moved last December and have had fun on some trips throughout the year. As they say, though, a picture is worth a thousand words, so here’s our year in pictures. January Big Brother turned 7. We went on a cruise.   The view from the ship on our cruise was beautiful! February  Dart wars in our backyard Valentine’s Day Big Brother had his first big project and made a diorama.   Having fun shoveling. Visit to Casa Bonita in Denver. Lost a tooth at the dentist. March Lost both…

    Meet Winston

    Meet Winston. He’s an Australian Labradoodle who joined our family a little over 2 weeks ago. We just love him! He can be sweet and ornery…just like our boys! Speaking of our boys…they’re both just thrilled to have a little “brother”. Early on, he became my little shadow, and he took to laying or sitting on my feet whenever I stood still…even if only for a moment. But I don’t mind him being my shadow. Who could resist this face? At first he wasn’t too sure about his new home (he did not like these stairs), but now he’s taking it all in stride and is right at home with…

    DIY 4th of July Flag Shirt {And Our 4th of July Fun}

    This year we stayed home and hung out at our house for 4th of July. I didn’t want to make a big production of it like we did for Little Brother’s birthday party, but I still wanted the day to be special. So I planned a few little activities to do around the house, and we had a few people over to just hang out and relax. My favorite activity of the day was making these cute DIY flag t-shirts. I found the idea at the last minute the day before 4th of July, but we were able to whip them together easily on Independence Day morning after breakfast. Supplies:…

    A Day Out With Thomas

    Recently, we went to “A Day Out With Thomas” at the Colorado Railroad Museum. I actually chose Thomas as Little Brother’s birthday party theme with this event in mind since I already had the tickets. Little Brother loves Thomas even more since his birthday, so it was great planning! There were several activities to do and trains and cars to explore before our departure time. If you love trains, this is the place to go! They even had a scavenger hunt of sorts with a prize at the end. The Railroad Museum allows you to bring a picnic lunch, so the boys did that while we picked up some barbecue…

    The Big THREE!

    Back at the end of May, Little Brother turned 3 years old! I cannot believe how fast the last few years have flown by. It was 3 years ago exactly that I first introduced him here on the blog. His birth and pregnancy was quite an ordeal, but it was soooo worth it! He’s grown into such a little person (and not just a baby) with such a fun personality. He makes us laugh and smile every day.   Since his birthday was in the middle of the week this year, we went to the zoo to celebrate on his actual birthday.   All kinds of silliness ensues when we’re trying…

    Summer So Far

    We started summer off with a bang this year with a camping trip over Memorial Day weekend, Little Brother’s birthday, his Thomas the Train birthday party, planting a garden, summer baseball, Sports Camp at church, a fifth lost tooth, swimming a couple times, a couple parties, a wedding, and STEAM camp at the library. Then this weekend Jeremy and my dad put the boys’ new backyard playset together, and we went to “A Day Out with Thomas” with some friends. Whew! It’s been a whirlwind, but now we’re having a nice relaxing week with no major plans and time to just take it easy. Here are some pictures from the…

    Sticky Note Countdown

    Another change is coming for our little family. We’re moving again! It’s just to a different part of the city, but it’s a house, an actual house! It’s the kind of house that we can stay in forever, so we’re super excited! It’s an older home, so be watching in the coming months for posts about our projects around the house. In preparation for our move, I decided to make a little countdown. I though sticky notes would be an easy way of making a chain countdown and they would be small too. It fit just perfectly on our chalkboard. Unfortunately, my genius plan wasn’t so genius after all as…

    Count It All Joy

    It was looking like one of “those” days. You know. The days where nothing seems to go right and you just want to go to bed, hit reset, and start the day over. Well, we know we can’t really do that. but what can we do? I was driving home from a fiasco of a trip to the DMV (2 trips actually) and these thoughts are going through my mind: Maybe I’ll take a nap and hope the days resets, maybe I’ll drown my stress and sorrows in brownies…and this pops into my head: “count it all joy”. That made me pause. Count it all joy. It comes from James…

    30 Sometime Around 30

    Well, in keeping with “taking time to…”, I’ve taken my time updating the blog about my 30 Before 30 Adventure. The truth is that I’m still finishing the last 3. They’ve proven to be more difficult and/or time consuming than I had imagined. Though my birthday was at the beginning of August, I’m not just going to give up. Now my goal is to finish by the end of the year. I’m hoping this is a little more realistic.   And so here’s the list as it stands.     Consign at a Children’s Consignment Sale Read about it here. Get rid of maternity clothes It’s a little hard to…

    Chair Fiasco 2015 {#5 From 30 Before 30}

    I had dreams. Oh, did I ever have dreams. Our dining room chairs had 3 layers of paint on them and were looking sad, so I decided #5 for my 30 Before 30 list was going to be refinishing those chairs. I was going to strip the paint, sand them, paint them…really do it right. ‘Was’ is the key word here people. First, I tried just sanding them. If I did one chair a week, I could get them ready in about a month. I know technically it wasn’t impossible, but it wasn’t happening. It just wasn’t. That little bit of sanding on that chair in front took me hours. So I…
